Discflo in the Pulp and Paper Industry
The Discflo Disc Pump is solving some of the toughest pumping problems in pulp and paper manufacture. The Discflo Stock Pump is able to pump paper stock densities up to 16% is unique in the industry, while the pump's non-impingement action prevents damage to paper fibers.
The Disc Pump also excels at handling abrasive and viscous slurries from the chemical recovery process, shear sensitive chemicals, such as paper coating slurries, and sludges with a high solids content or high levels of entrained air. The Discflo Stock Pump can handle up to 70% entrained air or gas without cavitating.
Laminar Flow Solves Problems
Disc Pumps achieves this exceptional performance thanks to its unique pumping mechanism, the Discpac. The Discpac uses the principles of boundary layer and viscous drag to create pulsation-free, laminar flow through the pump, with minimal contact between the pump and pumpage. The result is a cost-effective alternative to centrifugal, progressive cavity, lobe and screw pumps.
