Discflo Pump Power Requirements

The work performed in pumping or moving a liquid depends on the weight of the liquid being handled in a given time against the total head or differential pressure being developed. The power requirement of the Discflo pump is calculated in the same way as that of a centrifugal pump.

In the US, work is measured in horsepower (HP). Horsepower can be calculated from the following equation:

Horsepower (HP) = capacity (GPM) x TDH (ft) x S.G.
```````````````````````````````````3960 x efficiency(%)
If you know the horsepower of a pump, you can calculate the efficiency from the following equation:
Efficiency = Capacity (GPM) x TPH (feet) x S.G.
```````````````````````````3960 x Power (HP)

In metric applications, work is measured in kilowatts (kW). Power requirement can be calculated from the following equation:

Power (kW) = capacity (m3/h) x TDH (m) x S.G.
```````````````````````````367 x efficiency (%)
If you know the power requirement of a pump, you can calculate the efficiency from the following equation:
Efficiency = capacity (m3/h) x TDH (m) x S.G.
``````````````````````````367 x power (kW)
